Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 30, 2026

FrostCam is a macOS virtual camera application developed by Peter Dongo (“we,” “us”). This privacy policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: nothing leaves your Mac.

What data we collect

None. FrostCam does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no user accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDKs. The app does not assign you an identifier or track usage in any way.

What FrostCam does with your webcam feed

Your webcam frames are read from the camera, processed locally on your Mac (to apply freeze or loop effects), and forwarded to a system Camera Extension that exposes them as a virtual camera. Frames are held in memory only as long as needed to render the next frame or, in loop mode, for the configured loop duration. Frames are never written to disk and never transmitted over a network.

Network access

FrostCam connects to the network only for one purpose: to process in-app purchases through Apple’s StoreKit framework. These connections are made by the operating system to Apple’s servers, not by us, and are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not see your Apple ID, your payment information, or your purchase history.

Third-party services

FrostCam uses no third-party services, no analytics tools, no SDKs beyond Apple’s system frameworks (AVFoundation, CoreMediaIO, StoreKit, SwiftUI). The app contains no advertising and no tracking technology.

Permissions

FrostCam requests access to your camera. This is required to capture webcam frames for processing. The permission is granted by you through the macOS standard prompt and can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

FrostCam also installs a System Extension (“FrostCam Camera”) so it can present a virtual camera to other apps. The extension can be removed at any time in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions.

Children’s privacy

FrostCam is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no information from anyone, we collect no information from children either.

International users

FrostCam works the same way for everyone, everywhere. Because no data is collected or transmitted by the app, there is no cross-border data transfer to disclose.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the release notes of the next app update.
